Transform Your Backyard with an Outdoor Kitchen Suite

Transform your backyard with an outdoor kitchen suite

Imagine walking into your backyard and feeling as though you have been transported into another world. A tropical escape, serene gardens, or even an Irish pub or tiki bar. Your backyard is an extension of your home – don’t let this space go to waste, why not transform your backyard into something extraordinary?

Your opportunities here are endless once you let your creative side take over. Work your magic and see what incredible space you uncover. But first – there are a few things you need to decide before you transform your backyard with an outdoor kitchen suite.

Wait – What is an Outdoor Kitchen Suite?

An outdoor kitchen is just what it sounds like – a kitchen that is outdoors. No two have to look the same as they are as unique as the kitchen in your home. The idea is to create a space where you feel comfortable and will want to spend time.

Some outdoor kitchens may be designed with practicality and functionality in mind, while others may be focused on social gatherings and entertaining. Some may keep things simple with just a grill to cook with, while others may prefer a grill, a pizza oven, and maybe even a smoker, too.

As we said, you have so many options and ways you can transform your backyard into something that is truly unique – and all yours.

Full or Partial Outdoor Kitchen?

You will want to decide whether you want a full or partial outdoor kitchen. Depending on your space, you may want to decide whether you should opt for a full or a partial outdoor kitchen. For those lacking the space, it may be necessary to forego an outdoor refrigerator or an extra cabinet or sink. Larger spaces allow for a grill, cabinet, sink, refrigerator, pizza oven – and more.

To Build In or Not to Build In?

Deciding on how permanent you want your outdoor backyard kitchen to be is also important. Some create a full kitchen made with built-in cabinets and/or countertops. But it doesn’t have to be that way. You can have a permanent look without being so permanent by using outdoor cabinets along with your appliances. It gives it a seamless look without making it a forever fixture.

A Place to Relax, Eat, and Enjoy

As you focus on the kitchen portion of your backyard transformation, don’t forget to create a place to relax, hang out, eat, and enjoy the company of those around you. This is easy to do when you add comfortable seating, chairs, and even a fire pit if you’d like.

By including this in your outdoor kitchen, you can cook delicious recipes and eat outdoors – without ever having to go back inside. After all, how silly would it be to go outside to cook but then go back inside to eat?

This is the fun part. What will you create? Oh – and don’t forget the bistro lights.

Thor Kitchen’s Outdoor Kitchen Suite

modular outdoor kitchen

As your mind starts turning and trying to decide how you can transform your backyard to get the most out of your space, you will want to check out the outdoor kitchen suite that Thor Kitchen has to offer. This can help you determine the best way to set up the space so that you also have room for eating and socializing. In other words, you know that you need the items in the outdoor kitchen suite – so it makes sense to start there and work out the rest of the design around it.

Thor Kitchen’s modular outdoor kitchen suite features large surface areas and a sleek design. Made of stainless steel, it is durable with a shine that is meant to last even if out in the elements. And, because it is modular, it can be rearranged so that it fits your space and is as functional as possible.

32-Inch Grill

Thor Kitchen’s 32-inch 4-burner gas BBQ grill with rotisserie in stainless steel looks and works beautifully. It is powerful, and with its blue LED knobs, it is a stunning addition to your back patio. Lots of advanced features – including halogen lights to see your food at night – take this grill to the next level.

Grill Cabinet

This stainless steel grill cabinet holds your grill steadily on top without wavering – and it blends together as though it is one unit. The cabinet itself has two storage drawers and a bottom storage cabinet to hold grilling essentials, towels, cleaning supplies, and more.

Sink Cabinet

Having a stainless steel sink cabinet outdoors in your kitchen suite is a great idea. Not only does it reduce the number of times you have to keep running indoors, but it also cuts down on cross-contamination and makes cleanup a breeze. Wash your hands, prep your food, and clean up – do it all outdoors without ever having to make your way back inside.

This sink cabinet allows you to also store items, and it comes with a built-in spice rack for all your favs and a bottle opener, so you have no excuse but to be the chef with a cold one in hand.

Corner Cabinet

The corner cabinet is just another large storage space – and countertop – to add to your suite. You can store anything you need to so that your outdoor kitchen is complete. And the top is a perfect place to prep your food.

Pizza Oven and Cabinet

A pizza oven is a fantastic addition – and there are so many things you can use it for in addition to pizza. It comes with all the necessities and even has another large storage cabinet underneath it.

Decked out in stainless steel, too, it fits perfectly with all the others.

Refrigerator Cabinet

The refrigerator cabinet holds your refrigerator drawer or wine cooler perfectly – and it gives you additional counter space on top to prep your food – or create a buffet for your friends and family.

It is important to note that Thor Kitchen also has additional options available, such as an outdoor refrigerator drawer to store perishable foods, condiments, etc. – or a wine cooler to keep wine at its ultimate temperature or even just store drinks, etc. Both add a lot of conveniences to your outdoor kitchen space.

How to Modernize Your Kitchen in 8 Steps

How to modernize your kitchen in 8 steps

The kitchen is the heart of your home, and you likely spend a lot of time there cooking and gathering yummy recipes. Deciding how to modernize your kitchen will leave you with a space you feel comfortable in – and one that you truly enjoy. It also brings some greater amenities to it and an increased home value as well.

There are many steps you can take to modernize your kitchen. Take one, take them all – it’s up to you. Find what works and create a kitchen you will love to spend time in.

Check out these eight steps on how to modernize your kitchen.

1. Look at the Bigger Perspective

Before deciding the steps you will take to revamp your kitchen, take a look at your kitchen as a whole. What is it that you genuinely like about the space? What is it that absolutely needs to go? What would you like to see changed? What colors or textures do you see in your modern kitchen?

It doesn’t matter how much time you spend in the kitchen, there is a good chance you never think about it from a modernizing perspective while you are making your infamous chicken cacciatore recipe. So take some time to sit back and look at your kitchen. Try to visualize the kitchen you want and the changes you’d need to make to create the look.

If you aren’t sure where to start, we’ve got some ideas.

2. Change Your Flooring

Changing your flooring may not seem like it is too high on the to-do list when it comes to modernizing your kitchen, but the floor can make a huge difference. When you walk into a room, your eyes may not be pointed to the ground, but the floor lifts them up even further.

Kitchens drab with an old vinyl or linoleum flooring, for instance, should have been left decades ago. Wood floors, tile, stone – anything like this is more timeless and much more modern. These will last longer, will totally transform the space, and will increase the value of your home.

3. Switch to Stainless Steel Appliances

Another modern and timeless addition to your kitchen is stainless steel appliances. Your refrigeratorrange, cooktop, dishwasher, range hood, and more can all be swapped out for stainless steel appliances. Not only are they bright, classy, and elegant, but they are also very durable, dependable, and energy-efficient.

When you invest in a stainless steel appliance suite, you have beautifully matching appliances that can instantly modernize your kitchen. In fact, it may be all you need to transform the space and boost the modern feel.

Stainless steel appliances by Thor Kitchen can give you pro-style durability. They are easy to maintain and keep clean – and they also allow you to reduce your carbon footprint. In other words, they are a great step in the right direction on so many levels.

4. Create an Open Space Up High

You know those cupboards way up high that you can’t ever reach? Why not get rid of them and free up the space? These old, small, barely-usable cabinets are outdated. But you can bring them to life and add some modern flair to your kitchen by removing them altogether. Depending on the cabinets, you may be able to just remove the doors, sand them down, and repaint them. Or, remove them entirely and replace them with new open shelving with strip lighting.

Simply having an open space up high can open up the kitchen and make it look more modern.

5. Paint Your Cabinetry

If your kitchen cabinets are outdated and really putting a damper on the modern look you are going for, paint can work wonders. It helps to create a new space from an old one in order to give your kitchen a modern feel. There is no need to take it out and replace it – just paint it.

What color? That’s entirely up to you, but for a modern look, you may want to consider shades of white, blue, or even black. You won’t even recognize them when you are done.

6. Modernize Your Countertops

If your kitchen is very old, then there is a good chance it probably has outdated countertops, too. This can really kill the space when you are trying to give your kitchen a modern makeover. They make up a large portion of the kitchen, and they are very visible.

Consider looking into options to upgrade your countertops. This may include natural stone, marble, granite, resin, and more. Some are more costly than others, of course, but there is a countertop for every budget. Plus, when you think about the value it is adding to your home, the purchase just makes sense.

7. Add Unique Lighting

Lighting is usually an afterthought in kitchens, but it shouldn’t be. You need to see when cooking – so you need something bright. Does that mean it can be an unsightly option as long as it’s bright? No way.

Invest in new lighting options. Consider something unique that will give you versatility and ambiance. You may even find a lighting source that acts as a centerpiece in the kitchen. Recessed lighting, pendant lighting, and illumination under the cabinets are all part of modern lighting sources.

8. Small Touches With Big Impact

Finally, there are some small touches you can add to your kitchen that will make a big impact. This could be a pop in color, such as with a picture or a vase. Or, a colorful backsplash that will stand out. It may even be in the canisters or utensil holders you use. Greenery, whether plants or herbs, also give the space a bit of a more modern look. Display an heirloom, light up your wine collection in a wine cooler, or remove curtains and let the outdoors shine in.

All of these ideas – the small touches, stainless steel appliances, and all the other ideas listed above – will transform a kitchen space into an upgraded modern version of itself that you are sure to love.

5 Fabulous Outdoor Kitchen Ideas

5 fabulous outdoor kitchen ideas

This time of year, we find ourselves outdoors more than we are indoors. And why not? The weather is beautiful with lots of sunshine and warmth. And the longer days mean that eating dinner and entertaining outdoors just becomes natural. So, in preparation for summer shenanigans, get-togethers, and everything in between, now is a great time to try out some new outdoor kitchen ideas. Just like your indoor kitchen appliances, an outdoor kitchen comes with many benefits:

-Extends your living and entertaining space

-Keeps smells outdoors

Lowers your energy bill

-Provides convenience when hanging out outdoors

-Adds value to the home

And that is just to name a few. So, if you would like to add an outdoor kitchen to your space, but you don’t know where to start, keep reading. We’ve got five fabulous outdoor kitchen ideas to help you get started.

What’s Included in an Outdoor Kitchen?

No longer does an outdoor kitchen include just a grill. Or even a grill and a small table. And, while there is no set checklist for an outdoor kitchen that you have to have in order to call it an outdoor kitchen, the idea is to create a kitchen (yes, much like your indoor kitchen) but outside. Instead of a range, you have a grill. But you need countertops and storage space. You will also benefit greatly from a sink and a refrigerator, too.

Having this in a designated area in your backyard can make it feel more like an outdoor kitchen. You can choose the size of the space, the layout, and whether or not you want to add an island based on the space you have. But one thing you do need is an entertainment space to go alongside it. After all, what good is an outdoor kitchen if you can’t enjoy the meal under the stars? Create a space to have drinks, food, and fun all right in your backyard.

Keep in mind that it is a good idea to extend your interior design into your outdoors so that it flows smoothly and beautifully.

Thor Kitchen’s Outdoor Kitchen Suite

When you have an idea that will take your backyard to new heights, Thor Kitchen’s outdoor kitchen suite is just what you need to pull the look together. If you are looking for a combination of classy and elegance topped with durability and functionality, look no further.

This kitchen suite comes with several key pieces, including:

Gas BBQ Grill:

A 32-inch 4-burner gas grill with rotisserie can be there for you when cooking any meal. This stainless steel grill has stellar LED-lit knobs, halogen lights (much-needed for nighttime grilling), easy moving, and the ability to use either propane or natural gas. It sits perfectly on an outdoor kitchen BBQ grill cabinet with its two storage drawers and bottom storage cabinet.

Outdoor Kitchen Sink Cabinet:

Having a sink in your outdoor kitchen isn’t mandatory, but it sure is convenient. Whether you are prepping food, washing dishes, or just looking for a place to wash your hands, this stainless steel kitchen sink cabinet with storage space comes in handy.

Pizza Oven and Cabinet:

Why? Well, why not? If you have never cooked a pizza (or anything, for that matter) in a pizza oven, then you are in for a real treat. This stainless steel wood-burning pizza oven blends in well with the other pieces of this suite while delivering a delicious pie every time. It also comes with storage so that you can keep all your pizza utensils organized.

24 Inch Indoor/Outdoor Refrigerator:

As a potential add-on to the suite, having a refrigerator can be incredibly beneficial to your outdoor kitchen. Not only does it make it convenient for cold drinks, but it is great for storing condiments, spreads, or anything you may need for cooking. Perhaps a 46-bottle wine cooler may be more suitable for your needs?

All of these items are meant to stand up to outdoor weather conditions and continue to look magnificent any day of the year.

Five Outdoor Kitchen Ideas to Try

Ready to enjoy life and make some lifelong memories? Let’s take a look at some kitchen ideas that can incorporate this kitchen suite and make it your own.

1. Modern Outdoor Kitchen

For those who don’t have a lot of extra space, but are looking to create a kitchen outdoors, a simple wood-paneled island will work. This can be built next to or around your kitchen suite, bringing you a designated cooking area as well as a prep area, too.

The modern look is in the wood paneling paired with a stone countertop and a stainless steel grill, cabinet, sink, etc.

2. Patio Dining – and Relaxing

What if you could turn your backyard into a dining and relaxation space? It can be the ultimate hangout spot. Add your kitchen appliances and countertops, but don’t stop there. You can have a seating area, a dining table, a fireplace, a television, and the like. Make it cozy as if you were relaxing in your living room watching the game.

3. An Outdoor Bar

Along with your grill, why not build up your countertop and turn it into a bar? Add some nice barstools and use a wine cooler to store your drinks. You can decorate your bar any way you want. You can create a tropical It’s 5 o’clock somewhere vibe, turn it into an Irish pub, or leave it a modern, sleek space.

4. Contemporary Outdoor Dining

To create a contemporary space, you can combine the shiny, sleek look of the stainless steel appliances with neutral pavers. Add some pizazz with a backsplash behind the grill. A stone island can seal the deal.

Be sure to extend the look into the dining area, too, so that it remains uniform.

5. Don’t Forget the Must-Haves

When designing the ultimate outdoor kitchen, you cannot forget to include the must-haves, such as:

-Lighting

-Space to move around freely

-Comfortable seating

-Overhead covering (at least partial)

-Fireplace or heaters to extend the use of the space

-Entertainment, such as a tv or music/speakers

5 Kitchen Upgrades that Add Value to Your Home

5 kitchen upgrades that add value to your home

Ask yourself – if you were buying your home all over again, what would you look for in the kitchen? What would you change now that would make the kitchen more enticing and functional? Is there a design flaw in the layout? Could your appliances need an upgrade? Do your cabinets need a makeover? Are there any kitchen upgrades that add value to your home?

When it comes to kitchen upgrades that add value to your home, it is not always about the most expensive option or the trending new idea. Efficiency, functionality, appearance, and beneficial features all play a role.

We’ve searched high and low for the five kitchen upgrades that will add value to your home.

1. Luxury Kitchen Appliances

Luxury kitchen appliances make a difference when it comes to upgrading your kitchen. You want your appliances to not only do the basic function they are designed for, such as having a refrigerator keep your perishables from perishing, but you also want to expand your horizons a little more. In other words, a focus on luxury appliances with must-have features should be on the menu.

Sticking with refrigerators, consider Thor Kitchen’s 36-inch professional French door refrigerator with an ice and water dispenser. This unit not only gives you space to fill up with groceries and keep them fresh, but it also makes it easy to hold everything you buy, thanks to flexible storage space – including adjustable racks and shelves.

Another luxury kitchen appliance is Thor Kitchen’s 48-inch dual fuel range. This unit has six powerful burners and a griddle. It uses only the best heat for each cooking method – gas for the stove and electric for the oven. Not to mention that its blue porcelain interior boldly sets it apart from the rest.

Think you can’t find a luxury dishwasher? Think again. Thor Kitchen has one. This unit knows just how dirty your dishes are – and it adjusts its wash cycle accordingly. Plus, you can adjust or even remove the racks if needed to accommodate any size of dishes you are washing. Most dishwashers are too basic to handle this task.

Do you see a pattern? Your kitchen may have all the appliances, but by adding luxury kitchen appliances that go above and beyond the call of duty, they can boost your home’s value.

2. A Layout That Just Makes Sense

A home can be beautiful and perfect – but a kitchen with a terrible layout can make or break a sale. Whether the kitchen wasn’t on the high priority list when it was built, or a lot of miscalculations or lack of planning happened, it is not too late.

A layout that just makes sense is important. You want to keep a flow between the prep space, the sink, refrigerator, and range. Doors should be able to open freely and without obstruction. You should be able to prep near your range and still have easy access between the stove, the sink, and the prep area.

Sometimes adding an island may be necessary to provide more space. Sometimes removing an island can make the kitchen run more efficiently and smoothly. It all comes down to space. Talking to someone with kitchen design experience may give you some pointers on ways to tweak the layout, so it adds value.

3. Don’t Neglect Your Countertops

Your kitchen counters are as important as other areas of your kitchen. And giving them a new look can transform the look of your kitchen. Though you cannot just settle for any countertops – they should be a high-quality countertops that will always continue to look great no matter how much space is used. A few common options are granite, concrete, quartz, or laminate. An expert can help you determine the best choice for your kitchen.

You may be surprised at how much a change to your counters can actually improve the overall look and feel of your kitchen. And, of course, improve your home’s value.

4. Stainless Steel Appliances For the Win

Stainless steel is timeless. This classic metal is one that shines beautifully on the appliances in your kitchen. It is resistant to fingerprints, and when sticky fingers or smears of chocolate pudding make their way onto the surface or handles, they are very easy to clean.

While keeping the shine is a great perk of having stainless steel appliances, perhaps one of the best is that they fit with every type of design. Whether you are looking for a kitchen style that is modern, contemporary, farmhouse, cottage, traditional, elegant, or something else – you will be pleased to know that stainless steel appliances are a win. They fit any design style. So, if you are one who likes to change things up a bit – or you want to give sellers the perfect appliance for whatever their design style is – stainless steel appliances are the way to go!

5. Pro-Style Upgrades

Invest in appliances that will stand the test of time. When it comes to adding value to your home, start with the appliances. Don’t try to scrape by with the cheapest option on the market, but make a point to invest in pro-style upgrades.

Pro-style appliances are designed to withstand heavy use. They are durable and long-lasting, often surviving way beyond the life of regular appliances – and they can withstand heavy, continuous use without issue. These types of refrigerators, ranges, dishwashers, and more are made close to a commercial quality but with a look perfect for a residential kitchen.

Finally, anyone in the real estate industry will tell you that stainless steel appliances have a fantastic ability to boost home values.

Interior Design Trends for 2022

modern couch with coffee table in living room

While some people are looking forward to what the new year brings for things like the real estate market, work-life balance, and new technologies, others are focused on interior design trends. And, it’s all for good reason. After all, the spaces in which we spend our time can have an impact on our mood and our decisions – and this can ultimately affect our future. In other words, interior designs are more important than you think.

Here are some interior design trends for 2022 to help you get started.

Let there Be Light

Maybe it is due to COVID lockdowns, but it is safe to say that most of us have a new appreciation for things like windows. When you are stuck inside for days on end – working from home, quarantining, and so forth – you may not have the chance to get out into the world much, right? But that doesn’t mean you don’t want to see it!

With the help of big windows – especially floor-to-ceiling windows – indoor spaces seem to feel less cut-off from the rest of the world. They not only give you more light and let you feel better from the sunshine but also give you a better view, too.

Light plays a huge role in our mental health so having huge windows can have a positive impact on our overall quality of life.

Marble Countertops

Marble has always been a bit sophisticated. We are talking about those thick, heavy marbles that come with a natural, rugged look. They scream durability and elegance all in one. Marble can come in different colors, but it looks best when paired in a kitchen with dark cabinets and stainless steel appliances.

This design trend isn’t necessarily new, but it makes its way onto the list often. Stainless steel appliances, as well as marble, are both timeless classics that look amazing, always.

Versatile Spaces

We are changing the way we view home. Almost two years ago, we were forced into viewing home and work+home. Two distinct areas of our lives that hadn’t come together as one until the global pandemic hit. We had to use the spaces that we used to live in for work, too.

In the coming year, versatility will play a big role. For instance, no one wants to have their work stuff piled on their kitchen island or dining room table. But, if you don’t have a designated home office space, this is tough. Finding ways to use a space for more than one thing is proving to be very beneficial. Though, doing this tastefully is key.

Sustainability and Vintage

Have you noticed the supply chain woes we are experiencing? Unless you’ve been living under a rock, there is a good chance you have at least heard about them – though, you’ve likely experienced the impact of them, too.

Over the last several years, we have been moving into the idea of sustainable living. And, well, that means upcycling. Don’t spend money going to stores and buying new furniture or decor items, but rather shop at thrift stores and antique shops where you are sure to find unique items that stand out from the crowd. Even if it is only one piece in a room, the detail and touch that an antique piece can bring to an interior space are unbelievable.

Bars in the Living Room

Bars in the living room used to be quite common, but the trend faded over time. Now, however, thanks to the pandemic and lockdowns, creating a bar at home – a safe place to drink and socialize – became quite the thing. Moving into 2022, it is officially making its way into interior design trends. We have all become used to staying home more, regardless of whether there is a lockdown or not. So, having this bar in the living room just makes sense.

Wine coolers are an important part of these bars as they keep beverages cool and are small enough to fit in areas such as this. Wine coolers can keep wine stored appropriately, but they can also be used for storing beer, mixers, liquors, and more.

The use of cabinetry with glass shelving and a mirrored back can make the bar area look beautiful. Couple it with a stainless steel wine cooler with LED lighting for the ultimate space.

Bring the Green

The feel of nature in an indoor space is exhilarating. If you have not been collecting plants, then it is time to start. Plants of all types and all sizes bring a sense of serenity to any room. But in addition to that, they also give you cleaner air to breathe

We could say that perhaps this trend stems from the pandemic, too, causing us to bring the outdoors in. Though people have been doing this for years – it is only now becoming more mainstream. So gather up some hanging plants, tall plants, short plants, and even some succulents. You just may be surprised at how they make you feel.

Earthy Tones

Earthy tones, such as browns, grays, dark green, rustic orange, and the like are the in colors for 2022. They give us a sense of richness and depth. They not only welcome you into a space but they make you feel good while in it. Combining different varieties of these tones is a great way to make the entire area look unique and peaceful – and it is slowly becoming one of the hottest trends around.

Again, perhaps it is because so many of us found our way into nature during COVID or maybe we’ve just come to a point where we want to connect with the natural world around us.

As we begin to say goodbye to 2021 and head into all the hope and promise that 2022 brings, consider some upgrades in your kitchen and throughout your home. Some of these trends sound so exciting – like a wine cooler and bar in the living room? Yes, please! You just may find that any of these trends have the power to transform your living space – and your life.
